DEPARTMENT LETTERS
Use the Department Letter Search to find the correct link to send to students. Use the guide below to learn how to use this tool.
GUIDE TO: Department Letter Search
Download the file to your computer: (go to File > Save As > Download a Copy)
How to use:
- Copy the student's major from SharePoint and paste it into the yellow box in the Department Letters Search Excel document.
- Excel will automatically fill in the remaining blue and grey boxes.
- Then copy the Department Letter hyperlink (the first blue box) and paste it into your email.
Example One:
Here is an example where the student's major is Business Management Operations. Note that the way it was displayed in SharePoint was "Business Management Ops". When you have a major that has been abbreviated in SharePoint, the 2nd blue box will have the full name of the major. This is what needs to be copied into the email as the student's major. (Don't use abbreviated major names in your emails!) Example Two:
If the student's major is not abbreviated in SharePoint, then the 2nd blue box will be empty. (Tip: If the student's major is not abbreviated, paste the major into both the email and the search before you copy the department letter link.) |

Each page contains a list of the majors within the associated college. And each major has an associated link to a PDF. This PDF is the Department Letter. It is the student's job to find their Department Letter based on their major. We make this easy for them since the hyperlinked text in the email we send is their major. (And the hyperlinked URL is the link to the college department letters page.)
